The Media and Law platform is an e-learning platform developed by IMS.

International Media Support (IMS) is a non-profit organisation working with media in countries affected by armed conflict, human insecurity and political transition. In more than 50 countries worldwide, IMS helps to strengthen professional practices and ensure that media and media workers can operate under challenging circumstances.

The objective of the platform is to enable journalists and legal professionals to become familiar with media-related concepts, including freedom of expression, freedom of the press and access to information.

This is done through an online course, explaining both the international and national context of these concepts, and offering the learner the possibility to improve his or her knowledge in order to guarantee his or her rights.

Platform features

Scalable training

The media and law platform is flexible. In addition to the currently available content, other media-related training courses can be developed and integrated, giving platform users the ability to develop their capabilities in other fields upon request.

Rich content

The content is presented using different formats that include texts, videos, animation, slides and illustration. Different instructional techniques such as storytelling, case studies, examples, questions and practice with reinforcement feedback will be used.

Self-Paced Training

The platform is designed to be used as an asynchronous tool (self-paced learning) and a synchronous one (facilitated/ instructor-led), which constitute the two main approaches to e-learning.
